Kate contacted me as she was looking for a designer to help her rebrand her business. She wanted to change her business name, logo and colour palette. Kate wanted to include warm brown shades and convey a rustic, wholesome vibe. She is passionate about using high quality ingredients and using locally sourced produce, as well as being as eco-friendly as possible.

I created three mood boards for her - each with a different vibe. Once she agreed on the direction, I created some logo options for her to choose from. She picked her favourite logo and then I rolled out the theme to the rest of the branding.

The primary logo consisted of a hand lettered calligraphy font with some slight texture - I picked this font as it reminded me of icing sugar being dripped! It is a simple yet elegant font with a touch of rustic which fitted the brief perfectly! I added a sans serif font for the words catering which complemented the calligraphy font so nicely.

I supplied Kate with a version of the logo with just the word 'Gingers' which I suggested she used on her website header which give it a really understated and minimal feel.

​

We tried a few combinations of warm browns, whites and creams but Kate eventually decided she wanted a rich 'chocolatey' brown as her main colour, then a crisp white to contrast with it. For the website we picked out a very light grey shade too, so the whole website looked fresh, light and airy - but still had some contrast and variation where needed.

I recommended to Kate that she should invest in some professional photography of her delicious food. We used a local photographer who captured Kate's rustic, homemade food so well. These photos really elevated her website letting the food do the talking and keeping the design simple and user friendly.

I finished off the project with creating some branded tags for her selection boxes.
